Yin Yoga and Community Acupuncture
Location: Abbotsford - Reset Wellness Collective Date: Friday, November 21st
Experience the healing benefits of acupuncture and yin yoga, in an uplifting community setting.
This is a wonderful opportunity to receive acupuncture for a significantly reduced cost - especially if you do not have extended health coverage. Acupuncture is an ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that involves inserting very thin needles into the skin at precise points on the body in order to restore the flow of qi (life force energy), which regulates spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical balance in the body. Scientific evidence shows that acupuncture may aid in pain relief by releasing endorphins, the body’s natural painkilling chemicals, and may affect the part of the brain that governs levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter involved with mood.
What to expect:
When you arrive, you’ll complete a short waiver form and you may discuss any concerns with Jessica - your Registered Acupuncturist.
You will be fully clothed the whole time, and it is recommended that you wear warm comfortable layers, such as sweatpants and a hoodie. Jessica only needs to access points around your wrists and ankles for this treatment.
Ear seeds will be applied to your ears before you start your yoga practice to begin to gently stimulate the flow of qi. Ear seeds are small stickers that stimulate relaxing acupressure points in your ears. They are painless and have no needles.
Alexandria, Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, will guide you through a gentle yin yoga practice. Yin yoga is a modern style of yoga inspired by TCM principles, designed to stimulate specific meridians in the body. Poses will all be low to the ground and will be held for an extended period of time.
We’ll take an extended savasana, and during that time, Jessica will place your acupuncture needles and you will have time to rest. Before you get up, Jessica will remove all the needles.
After class, you are welcome to ask questions or share any reflections with us.
What to bring:
Yoga mat, blanket, bolster or pillow (if you have one)
Warm, comfortable layers.
You may wish to sip on a warm beverage, such as herbal tea, before or after your treatment.
When you go home:
Please drink plenty of water to support your body’s natural detoxification process.
Allow your body to rest in order to integrate the therapeutic effects of your treatment.
Avoid stimulants and limit your intake of caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine, which may counteract the calming effects of your treatment.
